The Avengers Age of Ultron

The Avengers are back in this spring/summer blockbuster which may just break all sorts of box office records.(As of this writing, it has already made over $200 million overseas.)

Our heroes are called into action once again when Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) decides to make an AI (Ultron voiced by James Spader) that will protect the world from any possible future alien invasions, only to see it blow up in his face when Ultron pretty much ignores his peace programming and instead decides to annihilate the Avengers and pretty much destroy the world.

Several new characters are introduced including twin brother and sister Pietro and Wanda Maximoff otherwise known as Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch respectively. As Maria Hill (Cobie Smulthers) aptly describes them as “He is fast and she is weird”. I also found it interesting that they played a husband and wife in Godzilla and now play brother and sister in The Avengers. Their distinctly different powers definitely add to the fun and games in play.

This sequel also allows us to get a more intimate look at some of the Avengers including the hidden family life of Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and a burgeoning romance between The Black Widow (Scarlett Johannsson) and Bruce Banner/The Hulk(Mark Ruffalo).

There is definitely a lot of great action sequences including a ferocious battle between Iron Man and the Hulk as well as a pretty epic final battle against Ultron and his army that is sure to please die hard Marvel fans.

Age of Ultron is definitely an entertaining and a fun ride, but I personally found myself liking the original a little better. All in all, it’s a exhilarating and wild journey filled with some truly amazing special effects that Marvel is known for. A super heroic 8 out of 10 stars.

The Creator is a fantastic dive into the Sci-fi world. It also really hits home right now with the focus of the film on AI. The director, Gareth Edwards, joked that though the film takes place in 2065 it feels like it might be taking place now. The story has a few twists and turns that keep...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The third installment of The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise certainly did not disappoint.  It didn’t have quite the same feel as the first two as it was a bit more serious.  Making these Marvel films feel more like dramas doesn’t deter me from seeing them.  James Gunn has done a...
