Fifty Shades Darker

Fifty Shades Darker is a movie based on the bestseller novel by E.L. James. The movie is a sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey.

Daunted by the dark secrets of handsome tormented young entrepreneur Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) has broken off the relationship to start a new career with a Seattle publishing house.

The movie begins with Christian sending Anastasia roses and trying everything to win her back. Anastasia’s desire for Christian still dominates her thoughts, and when he proposes a new arrangement, she cannot resist. They rekindle their kinky affair. Anastasia learns more about him and tries to deal with all his past that is unfolding in front of her. Jack (Eric Johnson), Anastasia’s boss, has a short role but is very effective. While Christian wrestles with his inner demons, Anastasia must confront her anger and envy of the other women, Mrs. Robinson (Kim Basinger) and Leila (Bella Heathcote), who came before her, and make the most important decision in her life.

I feel the movie followed the book pretty closely as I remember many of the scenes. For those that have read the book, you are going to want to go see this movie because you want to see the adaptation of the sex scenes. The movie is not an award winner by any mean, but the fact that Valentine’s day is around the corner provides a good time for the release.

There were even a few funny moments in the movie, but I think it needed more texting, which made it more fun while reading the book.

The Color Purple

I must admit that I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect in the new film The Color Purple.  The subject matter seemed tough for a musical.  And the director, Blitz Bazawule, really didn’t have much under his belt to prepare myself for this film.  I assumed the singing would be spot on as we all...

Oppenheimer

Oppenheimer is the latest film by legendary film maker Christopher Nolan.  It’s his first R-rated film since Insomnia and it’s also right at three hours long.  Do not let either of those facts deter you from seeing this film.  This film is a masterclass in film making.  It...
