Noah

I was really curious to see what acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky (The Wrestler, Black Swan) would do with the Biblical Epic story of Noah. Well, he definitely made it interesting and quite the conversation piece.

The casting and acting in this movie is first rate and the mood is typical Aronofsky dark and moody. This is not your children’s bible story as it contains many creative turns and freedoms all the way through. (Giant stone watchers, great grandfathers with magical powers, an evil castaway on the ark, etc…) Nevertheless, it was very entertaining and thought provoking.(As I expected it would be since Aronofsky was involved.)

The special effects are done well and while the story dragged in some places, I felt that the characters , for the most part kept my attention—particularly Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, and Anthony Hopkins.

If nothing else, it’s a great rental and watercooler fodder.

The Color Purple
