Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

  • Tim Burton is back with his latest edition of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.  The sequel to the original Beetlejuice comes out after 36 years.  The original became a huge cult classic that fans around the world enjoy.  Like many of Burton’s other films it’s wildly creative and featured great performances by Michael Keaton, Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder.  Keaton, O’Hara and Ryder are all back for the sequel.  The story follows Ryder’s daughter who is played by Jenna Ortega, who everyone knows from the hit TV show Wednesday.
  • Keaton was the star of the film, again.  His portrayal of Beetlejuice is spectacular.  His character is so unique from just about anything else you’ll see.  While Keaton was fantastic again, the film felt a bit too similar to the first.  Again, Winona Ryder was “forced” to marry Beetlejuice to save the day.  This time it was to save her daughter.  The interaction between Ryder and Ortega felt awkward at times.  They had a strained relationship because of things that had happened in the past.  They just didn’t feel at all like a mother and a daughter.
  • There is no doubt the film is entertaining.  And in a world of films that are often too long, this one has a very manageable runtime just below an hour and forty five minutes.  The film flies by in fact.  There are also plenty of nostalgic moments including a new dancing scene similar to the one from the first film.  The guys who work for Beetlejuice and all have shrunken heads and can’t speak were great.
  • If you’re looking for a fun, fast-paced film to escape and relax you won’t find much better than Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.  While the story isn’t the most original and feels awfully similar to the first, don’t let that deter you from enjoying this film.  It might not be a great film, but there is no doubt it’s good and enjoyable.
  • Overall 7/10

A Quiet Place Day is the next installment in the Quiet Place saga.  This film doesn’t pick up where the other films left off, rather it picks up at the very beginning.  As a stand alone film, it’s a great film.  There is a ton of suspense throughout.  There is great...
