Elemental

Elemental, the latest Pixar/Disney release, is a fun, family film.  While it didn’t resonate as much as many of the other Pixar films, it’s still worth a watch.  This is a story about a young girl who is trying to find her way in life. Her parents are more set in their ways and don’t seem as open about exploring the world. Ember is bound and determined to discover what is out there. And what is out there turns out to be something really special… love.

The one thing really missing was the music.  These animated films have become known for their music over the years and this was not an essential part of Elemental. While every animated film doesn’t have to be an outright musical, it’s still nice when music plays a big part of the film.

Another thing that seemed to be missing was the development of characters outside of the main two.  There was no real connection to any other character in the film.  In fact, as my daughter pointed out, really only two of the four elements had much of a role at all.

With all that being said, it was still a film that had some great moments.  And the 3D was very well done.  I don’t anticipate watching this film over and over like some of the other Pixar films, but that shouldn’t stop you from watching it once.
