Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The third installment of The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise certainly did not disappoint.  It didn’t have quite the same feel as the first two as it was a bit more serious.  Making these Marvel films feel more like dramas doesn’t deter me from seeing them.

James Gunn has done a tremendous job with the opening scenes in all three of the Guardians’ films.  They are some of the best opening scenes in all of the Marvel films.  He brings the audience into the story immediately.  This film did a great job of wrapping up the Guardians story as well.  There was also a good bit of back story, especially for Rocket, and I enjoy learning about the stories of all the characters.  One thing that no one can criticize is the music.

Like the first two films, the soundtrack is unbelievable.  Guardians fans should love this last installment as the series wraps up.  You’ll find yourself getting emotional throughout as it feels like a goodbye to a lot of the characters.  Don’t worry though, there are still plenty of Drax one-liners to get you laughing and feeling upbeat.  At the end of the day, this film is just a joy to watch.  It’s entertaining from start to finish.  By Josh Pankow – 9/10
