Heart of Stone
Netflix’s new film called Heart of Stone is another action-packed summer film. It felt like a lower budget Mission Impossible film with a female lead instead of Tom Cruise. The film has a lot of action and adventure. It’s a shame this is a Netflix release that will be seen primarily at home. This is a film that’s certainly enhanced by the big screen. And while the stunts aren’t quite as over the top as Mission Impossible, there’s still plenty of scenes that are fun to watch.
Gal Gadot did a fine job. She didn’t quite have that undercover killer type of feel. Her character came across as a bit too nice. She had more of a school teacher feel than that of a lethal killer. There also wasn’t a ton of backstory into why she decided to go this route with her life. The supporting characters were nothing special. You won’t feel any big attachment to any of them. The same goes for the main bad guy. It wasn’t the type of evil villain that you find yourself clapping when they are finally killed at the end of the film. The film also tried to implement some comedy elements that felt a bit cheesy at times.
All told the film serves its purpose. It’s a fun film that you’ll be entertained by for two hours. An it’s never a bad thing to see Gal Gadot on screen. Rating 6/10.
