Home
Home is one of my favorite children’s movies produced this year. Home was produced by DreamWorks Animation using 3D computer animation software. The basis of the movie is that an alien race known as boov launch a friendly invasion of earth and relocates all of the humans from their homes, but Tip and her pet cat get separated from her mother during the relocation process. This cause Tip and her cat to set out on a journey to find her mother which eventually leads them to become friends with a boov name Oh who promises to help Tip find her mother. The journey that the trio goes through includes numerous laugh out loud moments, cute scenes, and hilarious chases. DreamWorks really outdid themselves with the animations that went into making the boov; all of the boov are pretty adorable.
The whole film is based on The True Meaning of Smekday though there are several major differences between the book and the movie. Home had a well-rounded voice cast of actors staring in this film. My favorite voices would have to be Rihanna as Tip, Jim Parsons as Oh, and Jennifer Lopez as Lucy. I went into this movie thinking it would be rather boring for me as an adult, but I was pleasantly surprised. Home has humor elements that will send both children and adults into laughter.
The only reason I did not give this movie a higher rating is that it lacks the truly amazing special effects that make people feel like they need to view it on the big screen in order to truly appreciate. I don’t want to ruin the movie by giving away the whole plot, but I can say that this movie deserves every one of the eight out of ten stars that I gave it.
