Maze Runner – The Scorch Trials
The Maze Runner – The Scorch Trials is the second film in the teen novel series similar to the Hunger Games. This film picks up right at the end of the first movie and shows Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his surviving “Glader” friends as they are rescued by WCKD, the World Catastrophe Kill Zone Department. At least they think they are until they find out that WCKD is looking to harvest their blood to find a cure to stop people from turning into zombies via the “Flare” virus.
Since Thomas and a few of his teen friends are “Immune” to the disease, their blood is VERY valuable and a high priority for WCKD. When Thomas and his buddies escape, this leads to an all out chase to get them back. I personally liked this movie much better than the first on as it was a thrill ride in a “Mad Max” looking world from start to finish. Another great aspect of the film is that the characters consist mainly of non-household names and come together pretty well as a cast.
Without giving away too much, I’ll just say that your teenager will absolutely love it and you won’t hate it either. A fun 7 out of 10.
