SPY
Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency’s most dangerous missions. But when her partner (Jude Law) falls off the grid and another top agent (Jason Statham) is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster.
I have to admit that this may be Melissa McCarthy’s finest performance to date. Not only is she vivaciously funny, but she also handles her character with superb panache and style. Jason Statham is also comedicly brilliant in his role and the tension between the two simply works!
This simply is not just another cheesy run of the mill comedy as the plot is surprisingly good with lots of good twists and turns that you would want from a regular spy thriller.
Writer-director Paul Feig takes it up a notch on his third try with McCarthy(Bridesmaids, The Heat) and like I mentioned, it simply works! In fact, I really do not remember laughing out loud so many times, yet still being intrigued at the plot of a movie in a very, VERY long time.
A word of warning though as it is a bit raunchy and full of bad language in case you were wondering about the kiddos. But, for the adults, it’s a great treat and a ton of fun out at the movies!
A hilarious 9 out of 10 Stars.
