The Creator

The Creator is a fantastic dive into the Sci-fi world. It also really hits home right now with the focus of the film on AI. The director, Gareth Edwards, joked that though the film takes place in 2065 it feels like it might be taking place now.

The story has a few twists and turns that keep the audience guessing. It’s not so confusing that the audience can’t follow like some other sci-fi films. The special effects are a really cool element of this film. It’s becoming harder and harder to come up with something new and original. Edwards did that here with the way the robots looked with the hole in the side of their heads.

The one aspect that fell a bit short was the relationship between the two main characters. There was this close bond that didn’t seem to make a ton of sense. It didn’t take anything major away from the film, but felt a bit off.

Overall this is a solid sci-fi film that fans of the category should enjoy. And while the film doesn’t necessarily revolutionize the category, it brings enough newness to the category not to disappoint.

Overall 7 out of 10
