Godzilla X Kong

It appears that the summer blockbusters have arrived early for spring with the latest release in the Godzilla and Kong Monsterverse franchise. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire picks up where Godzilla vs. Kong (2023) concluded with Godzilla and Kong having gone separate ways after their epic battle after joining forces to defeat Mechagodzilla. However, a new threat has surfaced that lies hidden deep within Kong’s new home of Hollow Earth that will force the two titans to reunite once again to fight an even bigger threat to the world. If that synopsis gets your juices pumping, then this is the movie for you!

The explosions are bigger, the monster fights are more numerous, and the action is non-stop. If you care to dig deep enough, you may also find some evidence of a plot as well. Let’s be realistic though, fans of this film and the Monsterverse franchise do not go to the movies, especially IMAX, for a thought-provoking plot. But if you love action and epic titan monster fights, then this is a must-see film in the theatre.

When it is all said and done, at the end of the movie you may feel like you were just served a motion picture with equal parts Planet of the Apes, Lord of the Rings, Pacific Rim, and Game of Thrones. Fans of the franchise will absolutely adore this latest release. The special effects are well done and watching the destruction of some of the most beautiful cities on the planet seemed so realistic. But be forewarned, if loud Kaiju screaming monsters are not your forte, you may want to sit this one out.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is the 2nd installment in DC Comic’s Aquaman series.  While the film boasts a lot of the fun sequences and visuals of the first film, it had one major flaw that held it back.  This film continues the story of Aquaman and the oceans surrounding him. ...

The Color Purple

I must admit that I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect in the new film The Color Purple.  The subject matter seemed tough for a musical.  And the director, Blitz Bazawule, really didn’t have much under his belt to prepare myself for this film.  I assumed the singing would be spot on as we all...
