Top Gun: Maverick

After seeing the original Top Gun ages ago (1986 to be exact), I thought it was a fun date movie, but nothing more. When I heard that a sequel was to come some 30 plus years later, I cringed at the thought of how bad it would be. Well, I was definitely caught off guard and totally surprised at how much better the sequel was than the original! (Something that is rarely done!)

The story picks up as Maverick (Tom Cruise) is requested to return to Top Gun to train fighters for a highly specialized and nearly impossible mission. The plot thickens when Maverick sees that Rooster(Miles Teller and the son of Goose from the original Top Gun) is one of the pilots recruited for the mission.

Maverick trains the pilots on the nearly impossible mission (Think Luke Skywalker’s mission in Star Wars just with way more amazing visuals and camera work.) I won’t ruin the storyline further, but safe to say it is a very thrilling part of the movie!

As for Maverick’s love interest, we are introduced to Penny Benjamin (Jennifer Connelly). She was not in the original movie, however she was mentioned a couple of times so she fits right in.

This movie is very good with great acting and jaw dropping action scenes. We were most pleasantly surprised and recommend!
