Godzilla Minus Zero
Godzilla Minus Zero is the much awaited sequel to Godzilla Minus One, again written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who also handled the visual effects(which won the Oscar for best visual effects.) The story is set in 1949, two years after Godzilla’s attack. Japan is still rebuilding, and Kōichi Shikishima(Ryunosuke Kamiki) and Noriko(Minami Hamabe) are now married and raising their adopted daughter Akiko(Sae Nagatani.)
A meteorite brings a new monster that evolves into King Ghidorah and ordinary weapons cannot stop it, and Godzilla comes back from the sea bigger and better than before. Once again, the visual effects in this movie are extraordinary and the highlight of the film. Especially the monster fight sequences and overall rampages. The problem is that there is not enough of it and the human elements and storyline drag on way too long and adds very unnecessary lengths to the film.
As is, it is a good sequel, but could have been way better by cutting down the extra human stories and adding more monster storylines or action. In fact, Godzilla was only onscreen a total of around 12-15 minutes out of the 2 hour and 15 minute movie!
