Big Hero 6

Big Hero 6 is Disney’s first real foray into the Marvel Universe and it comes off triumphantly. Parents, beware that all your kids will want for Christmas is toys and stuffed animals of the huggable and lovable robot Baymax who stars and steals the show here.

The story is about boy genius Hiro Hamada, who has a gift for robotics as well as making easy money from lesser intelligent folks in “robot” fights. His brother Tadashi sees Hiro wasting away his talent and brain and shows him his workplace…A school for nerds to come alive and invent all sorts of neat things. Hiro soon joins up and without ruining the plot for you, meets up with a kind and lovable robot named Baymax.

After a tragedy at the office complex, Baymax works with Hiro and the rest of the motley cast to find out some answers about what happened and why.(Think a mix of The Avengers and Scooby Doo.) The best thing about this movie is that it isn’t just for kids. Not only is it smart and charming for the kiddos, there is also ample adult humor, action, and wonderful special effects. I was never bored and the story kept me interested. The kids all around me had big smiles on their faces as well.

And in typical Marvel form, don’t leave until the credits are completely over.

This was a thorough delight and one for the whole family. A solid 8 out of 10.
