Lightyear

I have always been a big fan of the Disney/Pixar movies and feel like they have always done a great job of being original, funny, heartfelt, and overall a great time for all ages. Lightyear did not really measure up to its predecessors in my opinion.

Buzz Lightyear(Chris Pratt) takes viewers on a mission to get off a planet he is stranded on where he pretty much fails over and over like Tom Cruise in Edge of Tomorrow.(In fact, that was pretty much the plot.) The other characters were not very interesting to me with the exception of Sox the cat(I loved this character as Sox is the kind of Disney/Pixar character we have come to love over the years!)

The action sequences are nice as you sometimes feel like you are watching a real movie instead of animated, but they are not enough to hold the film for me. I also felt like Disney tried to push social issues in this film even though they do not seem to fit the forced storylines. I do think there are better films to discuss social issues, but a fun little children’s movie just did not seem like the right spot to me.

I would love to see Disney/Pixar get back to their original wonderful roots on their next film.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

The third installment of The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise certainly did not disappoint.  It didn’t have quite the same feel as the first two as it was a bit more serious.  Making these Marvel films feel more like dramas doesn’t deter me from seeing them.  James Gunn has done a...
